Goats

A.B.C. Farms' basic herd started with a 50:50 bloodline of Gir/Holstein cows. The herd has been steadily upgraded with Holstein to bring in more hybrid vigor. A.B.C. Farms has also used Jersey bulls and at present has a young Red Dane.

The concept is to maintain a high degree of Hybrid vigor from time to time and also yield milk with an average of 4.0% fat and 8.5% SNF and to produce a quality of milk that is most suitable for cheese making.

A.B.C. Farms also has a herd of purebred Swiss Saanen Goats, local goats and crossbred goats. The milk is used for producing goat milk cheese. The males are fattened for mutton or bred for sale to other farms.
